Ucello Conti Betting
Ucello Conti is a lightly-raced eight-year-old trained by Gordon Elliott, who is set to have his first crack at the Crabbie's Grand National on April 9, as he aims to hand his trainer his second win in the race, and build on some eye-catching performances in decent handicap chases this season.
- 21st January 2016 - Gowran Park - Thyestes Chase - 3m, 1f - 3rd
- 27th December 2015 - Leopardstown - Paddy Power Chase - 3m - 2nd
- 13th December 2015 - Navan - Foxrock Handicap Chase - 2m, 4f - 6th
Gordon Elliott acquired Ucello Conti from France at the start of the 2015 campaign, and whilst the former Grand National and current Cheltenham Gold Cup-winning trainer has failed to pick up a victory with this eight-year-old, he has shaped as if he could have a terrific career in front of him over fences.
He was a decent sixth in Navan's Foxrock Handicap Chase in December, whilst a fortnight later he chased home Minella Foru in the Paddy Power Chase at Leopardstown, and he was immediately pencilled in as a potential Crabbie's Grand National contender his star Irish handler.
His final outing came in January as he was a creditable third in Gowran Park's Thyestes Chase, and with more experience over fences he looks open to improvement, so off his current mark he could be one of the more attractively handicapped runners travelling over from the Emerald Isle for this competitive betting heat.

VERDICT: Ucello Conti is lightly-raced and has been producing some decent efforts this season, but he will need to notch up a career best if he is to play a primary part, and he may just struggle to hand Gordon Elliott his second win in the Grand National.
