This exceptional young chaser could well provide trainer, Paul Nicholls with his first winner of the Aintree Grand National. This became very apparent after he finished in spectacular style to win the Grade Two Aon Chase at Newbury on 13th February. Ridden brilliantly by Ruby Walsh, this 6 year old was travelling very easily behind the red hot favourite and stablemate Denman in that race, but when Denman blundered four from home and then unseated jockey, Tony McCoy three from home, Ruby swung into action, bringing him from along way back to overhaul Niche Market just before the line.
The win proved that not only can this youngster jump, he can easily stay the distance and is very quick when it matters. Also a winner of the National Hunt Chase Challenge Cup at the 2009 Cheltenham Festival, Tricky Trickster has now ran in five chase’s with three wins and two second places, proving himself to be both an excellent jumper with staying power and pace.

Only seven years old, some will say that he has a couple of years left before he could win a race of this magnitude. However, Online Bookmakers certainly do not agree and after his Aon Chase win, promoted him immediately to favourite in the 2010 Grand National Antepost market, where currently he is a best price of 12/1.

When winning at Cheltenham in 2009, he had several leading Grand National fancies well behind him, including the Tony Martin trained, Drumconvis and Ferdy Murphy’s Nine De Sivola. He won that race by 10 lengths and if he can reproduce that form t Aintree then he will have a great chance. Tricky Trickster moved stables from the Nigel Twiston-Davies yard to that of Nicholls earlier this season.
