2017 Grand National Tips
For anyone to give an exact tip to win the Grand National would have to be based on luck or the race would have to be somehow fixed. In other words it is virtually impossible, however it is not impossible to give an idea of those who should run big races and very often the Grand National odds can help the punter in this.
If the 2008 Grand National and the 2009 Grand National are looked at, it will be noticed immediately that in 2008, the winner, Comply Or Die won when joint favourite at 7/1, while in 2009, it was Mon Mome who shocked the racing world when winning at 100/1. While plenty tipped Comply Or Die to win, there was only mininal support for Mon Mome; it was impossible to believe for most tipsters that another Foinavon Grand National legend could unfold.
The first thing punters must understand is that there are 40 runners in the race, who, in theory are all handicapped to finish the gruelling 4 mile and 30 fence Aintree racecoure at the same time. It is very much a lottery and as Mon Mome proved last year any horse can win on the day. Irony has it that the very first Grand National was won by a horse by the name of Lottery, which is a learning curve in its own right.
All that said it does pay punters to look at some of the facts of the race and we suggest that you click on the following pages on this site which give a greater insight into what should be studied
It should also be remembered that money can be won on the Grand National without necessarily backing the winner. Bookmakers are becoming increasingly more innovative when it comes to creating markets for the race, these markets can be found on our Grand National Betting Markets page.
The 2017 Grand National Tips
We've enlisted the help of Channel 4 Racing presenter Tom Lee, who will be doing his best to pick out a winner of the Grand National just for you. His tips will appear here closer to the big race, in 2014 he tipped up the first two home so we'll be hoping for more of the same in 2017!
There's a mean support card this week at Aintree and here at the Betting Directory we have a tip for every race and betting previews for the big races of the day:
Tom Lee's Aintree Tips
The action doesn't just stop at the Grand National, with three days of quality racing the Aintree Festival is packed full of graded races and plenty of opportunities to top up your bank ahead of Saturday's big race.
