Sir Des Champs Betting
Sir Des Champs is a multiple Grade 1-winning chaser trained by champion Irish trainer Willie Mullins, who is set to have his first attempt at landing the 2016 Crabbie's Grand National at Aintree on April 9, and this former Cheltenham Festival winner is an eye-catching contender for what will be an enthralling race.
- 6th February 2016 - Leopardstown - Irish Gold Cup - 3m - 7th
- 28th December 2015 - Leopardstown - Lexus Chase - 3m - 5th
- 19th November 2015 - Thurles - Horse & Country Store Chase - 2m, 6f - 1st
Sir Des Champs was touted as one of the next big things in the National Hunt sphere and he blossomed in the early part of his career as having won the Martin Pipe Conditional Jockeys' Handicap Hurdle at the 2011 Cheltenham Festival, he then followed that up a year later with victory in Jewson Novices' Chase.
Second in a Cheltenham Gold Cup behind Bobs Worth, Willie Mullins' charge has then had his career curtailed by injury, and he was seen off the track for a long time as he failed to continue his career on an upward curve, but a return to racing has seen him try and fight out at the top again.
He was a winner on his return at Thurles in November, but defeats in the Lexus Chase and Irish Gold Cup at Leopardstown has highlighted that he may not be the force of old, and he will need to recapture his old spark if he is to land any sort of blow in this Aintree marathon, as he tackles the National test for the first time in his career.

VERDICT: This multiple Grade 1 winner has failed to recapture his best form since returning from injury, and while on his best form he could play a starring role here, his current form suggests that this could all be a little too much on his first attempt at the race.
