Shutthefrontdoor was a creditable fifth in the 2015 Grand National, and the Jonjo O'Neill-trained raider will aim to build on that effort when he lines up in 2016 renewal, which will take place at Aintree racecourse on April 9.

A former Irish Grand National hero, Shutthefrontdoor put up a bold show when he finished fifth in the 2015 Grand National last season, but Jonjo O'Neill's charge will attempt to build on that performance as he has a second crack at the Aintree marathon, which takes place at the Merseyside venue on April 9.
However, he has struggled to find the same form as last year, as having put up a decent performance when third over hurdles at Aintree in November, he was then pulled up over an inadequate distance at Newbury, where he aimed to feature in the competitive Greatwood Gold Cup in March.
He runs off a slightly lower mark in the 2016 National, so that should aid his chances, and with stamina no issue he will be hoping that he can benefit for last season's experience in the world's greatest steeplechase and in the famous green and gold silks of JP McManus he has to be in with a sporting chance.

VERDICT: Shutthefrontdoor will relish this marathon test, and having finished fifth in the race last year is one with experience on his side, but while he is an interesting runner, it's hard to see him being good enough to reverse the form with Many Clouds, so he may have to take up a minor role once again.
