Pendra is an eight-year-old gelding who is trained by Charlie Longsdon and is set to run in the 2016 Grand National at Aintree on April 9, as he aims to land the Merseyside marathon at the first attempt for owner JP McManus, who has tasted victory in the race before.

- 31st October 2015 - Ascot - Sodexo Gold Cup Handicap Chase - 2m, 7f - 1st
Twice a participant at the Cheltenham Festival, Pendra has now had his sights set on the Grand National and the Charlie Longsdon-trained raider warmed up for a tilt at the Aintree marathon in sparkling style earlier in the season as he bounded to victory in Ascot's Sodexo Gold Cup Handicap Chase in late October.
However, he was unable to follow that success on a return to the Berkshire venue as he could only finish seventh in the Silver Cup Handicap Chase at December, but he has not been seen this year over fences, so after a lengthy break he will need to produce a lifetime best if he is to even make the placings here.

VERDICT: Not seen on a racecourse this year, Pendra is going to struggle to figure at all in this event, and he's hard to fancy at huge odds for trainer Charlie Longsdon and owner JP McManus.
