Just A Par Betting
Just A Par is a nine-year-old horse trained by champion trainer Paul Nicholls who is set to have his first crack at the Grand National at Aintree on April 9, 2016, and he will aim to add this race to a CV that already possesses a fine win in the 2015 bet365 Gold Cup at Sandown Park.
- 22nd March 2016 - Exeter - Higos Handicap Chase - 3m - 2nd
- 5th December 2015 - Sandown Park - London National - 3m, 4f - 9th
- 14th November 2015 - Cheltenham - Murphy Group Handicap Chase - 3m, 3f - 13th
A Grade 2 winner over fences as a novice chaser, Just A Par has often struggled to show his class over obstacles, but a fine win in the 2015 bet365 Gold Cup at Sandown Park showed that on his day he can produce the goods at a high level, but he will head into the 2016 Grand National on the back of some mediocre performances this season.
He was first seen in November finishing way down the field in the Murphy Group Handicap Chase at Cheltenham, while he could only finish ninth in the London National on his return to Sandown a month later, while he was second on his last start at Exeter, so he will need to improve immeasurably if he is to play a part here.

VERDICT: He showed when winning the bet365 Gold Cup that he can shine in marathon events, but he has been struggling for form this season and it's hard to see him playing a starring role in the 2016 Grand National.
