Buywise is a nine-year-old horse trained by Evan Williams who is set to have his first run in the Crabbie's Grand National at Aintree on April 9, but having not tasted victory over fences for nearly two years he is going to line up as one of the outsiders for the marathon contest on Merseyside.

Evan Williams's Buywise will make his first appearance in the Grand National in 2016, but a horse that has often had jumping issues may find the test of Aintree a little too much, and having not won over fences for nearly two years he may find things tough in what is a race jam-packed with quality.
He started his campaign at Aintree in October, where he put up a decent effort to finish third in the Old Roan Chase, while a month later he ran a stormer to finish a staying-on second in the Paddy Power Gold Cup at Cheltenham, as in familiar fashion he stormed up the Prestbury Park hill in the closing stages.
Fourth on his return to that same venue in December in the Caspian Caviar Gold Cup was followed by another fourth-placed finish in the Sky Bet Chase at Doncaster, so whilst he's been fairly consistent this season, he will need a career best to play a part in the Grand National.

VERDICT: Buywise has been placed on a number of occasions this season, but his jumping frailties and tendency to be outpaced in the middle of races could scupper his chances here, so it's hard to fancy him to figure on his first try at the Grand National.
