Boston Bob Betting
Boston Bob is a former Grade 1-winning chaser trained by Willie Mullins, who is set to have his first attempt of winning the Crabbie's Grand National on April 9, and having won the Bobbyjo Chase last time out he could be one of the primary challengers for the travelling Irish team, who aim to shine at Aintree.
- 20th February 2016 - Fairyhouse - Bobbyjo Chase - 3m, 1f - 1st
- 21st January 2016 - Gowran Park - Thyestes Handicap Chase - 3m, 1f - PU
- 29th July 2015 - Galway - Galway Plate - 2m, 6f - 13th
Success in the Melling Chase and the Punchestown Gold Cup in 2014 propelled Boston Bob into the elite category of staying chasers, but the Willie Mullins-trained 11-year-old has failed to build on those fine efforts with any consistency, so he will be hoping he can launch back into the limelight on April 9 with victory in the Grand National.
He kicked off his campaign with a summer visit to Galway for the Galway Plate, but he was unable to land a significant blow in that competitive event, and followed that up in January with another mediocre performance in the Thyestes Chase at Gowran Park, where he was pulled up.
However, he bounced back to form with aplomb at Fairyhouse in February as he stormed to victory in the Grade 2 Bobbyjo Chase, and with that being one of the premier Irish trails for the Grand National then he will be hoping that he can replicate that fine display in the Merseyside marathon.

VERDICT: A former Grade 1-winning chaser, who bounced back to form with victory in the Bobbyjo Chase last time out, but while he will be a player if repeating that effort, may have his best years behind him and will require slower ground if he is to be seen at his best.
