2003 Grand National
It was 16/1 shot Monty's Pass, trained by JJ Mangan and ridden by Barry Geraghty who thoroughly deserved victory after an almost flawless performance by horse and jockey in the 2004 Grand National.
Monty's Pass was in fact an easy winner, romping home by twelve lengths from the gallant 40/1 outsider, Supreme Glory with Leighton Aspell onboard. Amberleigh House, who was to win the race a year later stayed on to be third, with Gunner Welbourne and Montifault, back in fourth and fifth places. Bindaree who had won the 2002 Grand National the year before was a game sixth.
Monty's Pass ran twice more in the Grand National running a very creditable 4th the following year behind Amberleigh House and was also 16th behind Hedgehunter in 2005 in his last ever race.
